The core competence of phpWebSite is managing content. That's why it's called a content management system. There are a couple of guides on how to install phpWS technically and how to work with modules.
Then, there's the actual content. I couldn't find a common practice guide on how to write content for phpWebSite. So I did one on my own. Enjoy!
What's best practice for URLs? Just the plain vanilla a-tag, maybe? Not really. phpWebSite offers a better way: bbcode. By using bbcode for our URLs, we have a central instance where we can control their behaviour.
We can decide, for example, wether to open URLs in new windows or not. Why bother? Because XHTML strict doesn't allow URLs to open in new windows and we might to switch one day.
Example for a Link | |
---|---|
Benefits of the url bbcode | |

Right now, a couple of governments all over the world have to make their sites accessible. That's written law. Forcing them to use XHTML strict could be the next step. While this is nice for people that visit those sites -- they have a better browsing experience -- it won't be too nice for the content providers. One step in the right direction is the use of the URL bbcode, as it can make switching to XHTML strict -- and other handicaps -- a lot easier. |
